About the Photographer

Macy is a recent graduate from High Point University where she studied studio art. She focused on ceramics mostly, but was mentored heavily by her photography instructor who helped cultivate her love of the art as well as her style. It was in the classes she took that she learned how to shoot not only a digital camera, but learned how to shoot film and develop that film. The process of film photography is really what has shaped her as a photographer and allowed her to truly appreciate the individual photograph.

She specializes in portrait work but loves to dabble in documentary photography as well. While Macy does shoot color photography, she really enjoys black and white because it serves as a reminder of older and simpler times; her roots are in film photography.

When photographing her subject, Macy's goal is to capture the "realness" of the person, who they are not only to themselves, but to the world around them. To best do this, Macy likes to get to know so she can understand what truly makes them unique. Each photo is a story about the subject that deserves to be heard!
